What is KAP?
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) combines ketamine’s healing potential with psychotherapy to support deep emotional processing and lasting change. This unique approach helps clients gain new insights, release emotional barriers, and foster healing in a safe, structured environment with ketamine therapy.
Benefits of Ketamine
Ketamine has been shown to provide rapid relief for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and anxiety—often within hours or days. It works differently from traditional medications, helping to rewire the brain, reduce negative thought patterns, and promote emotional resilience. For those who haven’t found relief with other treatments, ketamine can be a powerful tool in their mental health journey.
Comprehensive, Team-Based Care & Ketamine Medication Therapy
At Mental Serenity Psychiatric Services, we work within a team-based model to ensure that clients receive comprehensive, personalized care that integrates psychiatric treatment with therapy for optimal mental wellness.
🌿 Our Approach to Ketamine Medication Therapy
We offer Ketamine Medication Therapy as a structured, medication-only treatment in collaboration with Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) therapists. This approach ensures that clients receive safe, effective, and well-supported care throughout their ketamine journey.
✅ What Our Ketamine Therapy Includes
✔ Ketamine Prescribing & Intake Assessment – We provide a thorough psychiatric evaluation before prescribing ketamine to ensure it’s a safe and appropriate option for you.
✔ Psychiatric Medication Management – Our ketamine prescribers see patients virtually, and treatments are completed in-office under the supervision of a KAP-trained therapist.
✔ Referral to KAP-Trained Therapists – We collaborate with trusted KAP therapists in NY, CT, and RI, some of whom integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and trauma-informed therapy before, during, and after KAP for continued support and integration.
✔ Collaboration with Your Existing Therapist – Many KAP therapists allow you to continue working with your primary therapist while guiding you through your ketamine journey. Once treatment is complete, care is endorsed back to your existing therapist for continued support.
✔ Ongoing Progress Monitoring – Our psychiatric providers collaborate with your chosen therapist to track progress, ensuring you receive safe, integrated, and effective care throughout your treatment journey.
📌 Note: While we provide referrals to vetted KAP therapists, clients are solely responsible for ensuring their chosen therapist aligns with their needs and expectations.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is driven by two key components: psychiatric care and psychotherapy. Our approach ensures that clients receive comprehensive, well-supported treatment throughout their journey.
✔ Psychiatric Care – Our ketamine prescribers manage medication evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing medication management to ensure safety and effectiveness.
✔ Psychotherapy & Integration – Our vetted KAP-trained therapists guide clients through preparation, integration, and emotional processing before, during, and after their ketamine experience.
We empower clients by connecting them with therapists who align with their specific needs, including those who:
✔ Accept insurance for affordability
✔ Offer sliding-scale fees for accessibility
✔ Provide culturally inclusive care for diverse communities
✔ Include BIPOC & Indigenous KAP providers for representation and comfort
Our goal is to make KAP more inclusive, accessible, and ethically guided, ensuring every client experiences a safe, supportive, and deeply transformative healing process.
