Sana Kalra, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is trained in integrative psychiatry through Psychiatry Redefined, offering an approach that extends beyond medication alone.
Integrative psychiatry supports whole-person brain and body wellness and may include strategic laboratory testing to assess for underlying deficiencies, targeted supplement recommendations, natural treatment options, and thoughtful integration with traditional psychiatric care. Treatment plans may combine supplements with medication or explore non-pharmacologic approaches when appropriate.
Cost and Coverage: While elements of a holistic approach are often incorporated into routine visits that may be covered by insurance, comprehensive integrative evaluations and certain strategic labs, supplements, or specialized treatments may involve out-of-pocket costs. We encourage patients to discuss potential expenses in advance to ensure transparency and informed decision-making.

Depression can feel overwhelming, especially when standard treatments have not provided relief. For adults with treatment-resistant depression or major depressive disorder with acute suicidal thoughts or behaviors, SPRAVATO® may offer a new option.
FDA-approved and designed to work differently than traditional antidepressants, SPRAVATO® targets key brain pathways and may provide relief more rapidly for some individuals.
We administer SPRAVATO® in our REMS-certified, medically supervised West Hartford, CT office to ensure safety and close monitoring. Insurance coverage is often available.
Our compassionate team supports you through every step, from comprehensive evaluation and safe administration to ongoing follow-up care.
To learn more, visit the official SPRAVATO® website.
Ketamine therapy and personalized medication management offer new possibilities for individuals who have not experienced adequate relief with traditional treatments.
In-person sessions are carefully monitored by your prescriber at our West Hartford, CT office to ensure safety and clinical support. Ketamine treatment options may include troches, sublingual (SL), or intramuscular (IM) administration based on your individual needs.
We collaborate with your ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) therapist to integrate medication and therapy for deeper, more sustained progress. Virtual visits are available for preparation, integration, and ongoing follow-up care.
Explore compassionate, evidence-based alternatives when other treatments have not worked. To learn more about ketamine therapy, visit the American Society of Ketamine Physicians, Psychotherapists, and Practitioners (ASKP3).
Our Collaborative Approach to Ketamine and SPRAVATO® Care
At Mental Serenity Psychiatric Services PLLC, we value strong collaboration with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, primary care clinicians, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
We welcome referrals for both ketamine therapy and SPRAVATO® (esketamine) treatment. Clients are encouraged to continue working with their existing providers. Our role is to support, not replace, established therapeutic or psychiatric relationships.
With client consent, we communicate with referring providers, respect existing treatment plans, share relevant clinical updates, and offer insight regarding the safety and appropriateness of ketamine-based treatments.
We do not manage or alter a client’s current psychiatric medications when they are referred specifically for ketamine or SPRAVATO®. As part of our evaluation, we review psychiatric and medical history, current medications, and overall treatment suitability. If clinical considerations arise, we communicate directly with the referring provider to promote safe, informed decision-making.
Our goal is simple: the best possible outcome for every patient through thoughtful collaboration, clinical clarity, and compassionate care.
We provide comprehensive ADHD evaluations and personalized treatment for teens (16+) and adults across Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island.
Our thorough assessments evaluate how ADHD may be affecting your focus, organization, productivity, and overall well-being, while also screening for conditions that can mimic or coexist with ADHD to ensure diagnostic clarity.
Treatment plans are tailored to your needs and may include medication management, behavioral strategies, and lifestyle guidance to strengthen executive functioning.
Whether you are seeking answers for the first time or continuing care, we provide compassionate, evidence-based support to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
GeneSight® testing helps reduce the guesswork in prescribing by analyzing how your genetic profile may influence your response to psychiatric medications.
This pharmacogenomic test provides guidance on medication selection, particularly if you have experienced side effects or limited improvement with past treatments. It supports more personalized, informed prescribing decisions.
Please note that GeneSight® does not guarantee specific outcomes but serves as an additional tool to guide medication options as part of your overall treatment plan.

At Mental Serenity Psychiatric Services, we believe high-quality mental health care should be accessible and affordable. Our Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners provide compassionate, exceptional care designed to meet you where you are.
We work to minimize out-of-pocket costs by accepting most major insurance plans across Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island. Sliding scale rates are available for individuals experiencing financial hardship, with reduced self-pay options when needed. For out-of-network plans, we provide superbills to support reimbursement. We also accept credit/debit cards, HSA, and FSA payments.
Virtual appointments are available throughout Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island, with in-person visits offered at our West Hartford, CT office.
Whether you connect from home or visit us in person, our commitment is to provide respectful, responsive care regardless of income or background.

We provide compassionate, evidence-based care focused on lasting wellness. Our integrative approach combines traditional and innovative treatments within a safe, collaborative environment.
Culturally responsive care is central to our practice. We provide inclusive, affirming services that honor all identities and lived experiences, proudly welcoming BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and underserved communities.
